The Top SEO Fears and How to Conquer Them

It’s spooky season! And we’re ready to de-bunk some of the most common SEO fears and myths. Don’t fear SEO! It’s here to help your website succeed.

I’m Afraid SEO Takes too Long 👻

One of the most common questions we get at Boostability is why should I even try SEO when it takes so long? And the question is because it’s worth it. There’s so many different kinds of marketing efforts. And they all compliment one another. It’s not a matter of do SEO OR do PPC OR have an advertisement on the radio. These can all work together to build your  brand. So when someone needs for example, a plumber. They’ll search online and when they recognize a name they might have heard on the radio, they’ll click on your site. It’s as simple as that.

SEO can take time. But the ROI pays itself off. Improving and optimizing your website can bring you traffic, leads, and more customers for years to come, if you put in the hard work and let the process happen at the start. Whereas for PPC, you get one click and the money is gone. And as soon as you turn off that campaign, no more leads. What you put into SEO can build up your SEO for a long time and keeps those leads coming in without spending a dime.

It’s hard to put in time and effort into something in today’s instant gratification culture. Our entertainment, our food, or basically anything you need just a phone tap away, and you can get it to your house. But that age-old saying that good things come to those who wait, definitely applies to SEO.

I’m Afraid of the Cost of SEO 🎃

SEO is needed to help your business grow, but it shouldn’t be expensive. There are those  companies who do SEO for big brands, or enterprise companies, and that takes a different kind of SEO strategy compared to a local business. Therefore, you need to find an SEO provider specifically for your needs. SEO doesn’t have to be expensive to be effective.

Find an SEO provider specifically for your small business. That’s what we offer here at Boostability. Do your research to make sure that any agency you partner with is aligned with your goals and knows exactly what you want to accomplish. They shouldn’t be offering these big packages if you want to be found locally.

Also be wary of pre-packaged deals that don’t take your needs and what makes your business  stand out into account. So many factors go into an SEO package and the price of it. Learn from different agencies what it would take to help you accomplish your business goals. Again, it shouldn’t be expensive to get you results with the right agency.

SEO Feels Spammy 😱

SEO is all about building the authority of your website. It’s about helping to build your online reputation in the eyes of Google. It’s not about trying to get the most clicks or promoting your website across the internet including bad or spam filled sites. But instead, SEO builds your credibility in the places where it counts.

There are some bad SEO marketers out there that ruin the reputation of the rest of us who know how the process works and how to do it well. So in reality, there are some spammy SEO practices. But that’s not what it looks like if you know how to do it right. These guys use black hat practices that promise instant results, but end up hurting your site in the long run.

It helps to have some knowledge of SEO and how it works before beginning a campaign. That way you know that your SEO provider, or you know how to avoid the spammy corners of the internet. We have a host of resources here at Boostability to help you get started.

SEO is too Technical or Complicated 😬

It’s true that there are many facets that go into an SEO campaign. A full service SEO effort takes things like keywords, content, link building, code optimizations, and so much more to make sure your website fires on all cylinders. But just because there’s a lot of aspects to SEO doesn’t mean it’s out of the realm of possibility. You just need a plan of attack, or to work with a provider that aligns with your goals and budget.

Like we said above with the budget, SEO doesn’t need to be complicated to be effective. There are several steps you can take to help optimize it for local search. You can always create new content for your site that will help to get it noticed by the search algorithm. And there are plenty of websites like Boostability’s blog where you can go learn more about SEO and what you can do. Or you can find a provider to help you with those more technical aspects you don’t necessarily understand. They should take the time to explain it to you and help you know exactly what is going on with your website. If they don’t take the time to explain it or glaze over the details you want to know, consider that a big red flag.

What if it doesn’t work and I don’t get more customers?

No form of marketing or advertising is guaranteed to bring in more customers. You can play radio ads til the cows come home, but if they forget about your business the second the ad finishes, they won’t turn into customers. Same with any other form of advertising or marketing. It’s all about building your brand to hopefully bring customers to your door. Then keep them around with great product and good customer service

SEO is a great option because  it helps customers  find your business when they go to shop. If you’ve done a good job to increase your brand awareness, when they search online, like most do when they need something, they will find your business and come to your door. More than half of online purchases begin with a search on Google. So your site needs to be optimized to capture those searches.

Of course it’s not a guarantee to bring in more customers. But it’s one of the best ways to bring in that increased traffic that could turn into a customer down the line. More visibility is never a bad thing. Why wouldn’t you want to do everything you can to improve that visibility and exposure?

These are some of the biggest fears in SEO marketing that we hear on  a regular  basis. And in reality, they’re  really not that scary once you understand the purpose behind it. Increase your online optimization and visibility by contacting us and starting  to build up your online presence!
